I got a quick question on G33 thread cutting with Siemens control Touch 2100 on a Fryer Lathe machine (the control is almost the same as a 840D).
How do you make a thread so it penetrates in X right at the spindle 0 position and then starts moving in Z without making a groove initially? Some kind of synchronization between spindle position and X position would be needed I am not sure if there are any functions to allow for this.
What it does is actually penetrating in X, waiting for the spindle 0 position and then moving along Z. That is not good as it does an unwanted cut around the workpiece at the initial Z-position.
The instruction given for G33 is:
Thread cutting, G33
Programming N20 G33 Z22 K2 LF
Parameters Z, X Thread end point
K Thread lead for cylindrical thread
I Thread lead for face thread
I Thread lead for taper thread
(angle of taper > 45°)
K Thread lead for taper thread
(angle of taper < 45°)
SF Start point offset in degrees
Right-hand or left-hand threads are programmed by
specifying the direction of spindle rotation M3/M4. Spindle
rotation and speed must be programmed in the block
For programming taper threads, enter the X and Z
coordinates with G33. Multiple threads can be programmed with offset start points (SF=...)

Answer would be:
G33 face thread first (I) (basically you make it to synchronize with spindle while moving along X-axis) then follow up with
G33 longitudinal thread (K) (it will move synchronously with spindle along Z-axis).
