Tapping a thread

don't you just hate it when you break a tap in an almost done thread,I tapped an aluminium pullys shoulder into the bore and it was there showing in the bore,tried to unwind the tap and it got stuck and broke the tap trying to release it not far up the thread.

Arrrrrrgh!
