    Craftex Lathe Electronics Problem

    Hello everyone,
I may not be posting in the right forum, if so please tell me which forum I should be using. I have a 7" X 8" Craftex lathe that I overloaded and blew the fuse. Not having another fuse I put in a piece of brass (Stupid I know) and then the lathe quit. I am now inside the control box with my voltmeter but I don't know what I am doing or what I should be looking for. I am hoping it is something simple. I would like to know if it is the circuit board or the motor, how do I find out?
I am disabled so taking the whole lathe to a repair depot isn't really very feasible.
Can I take the circuit board and/or switches someplace and have them tested?
If so where? Better yet, has anyone else had this problem and solved it?
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
Needless to say I will never do this again, I was making Steve Bedairs Ball Turning attachment and really wanted to finish it. 2" dia. is a bit much for this small lathe.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post and I hope you all are having a great day.
    Sincerely,
    Colin

Ah yes, the old stick in a bigger fuse until it refuses to blow!
What is the type of spindle motor? AC? 1ph? 3ph? DC?
You most likely have blown the spindle controller, although this just an educated guess.
As with limited information it is exceedingly hard to trouble shoot from a distance.
    A bit more info needed.

Craftex, did you buy it at Busy Bee? If so just give them a call, they may point you in the right direction.
    Good luck
