I got a Bridgeport with a M head. I didn't know that it was a M head till I got it to the shop. Is there a way to covert it to accept R8 collets? Or i need a diff. head?

| Hi Dennis, I had the same problem with my bridgeport so I got a 100DA collet chuck with the #2 morse taper body from MSC industrial supply (www.mscdirect.com). You have to cut the tang off and drill and tap the small end for the draw bar threaded rod. The 100DA collets will chuck up to 9/16 dia. The down side is the adapter and a full set of collets will set you back @335 bucks, the upside is you don't have to beat the **** out of your draw bar to get the #2 MT collet to release Dean |
