Aluminum casting, machined, and the chair back might be vacuum formed

New to manufacturing. Was curious what the manufacturing process will be for a metal portion of this chair frame. These seem to have smooth grooves and bends. I know its chrome plated but what type of machine makes those bends? My guess is that it is casted steel or aluminum from a mold?

Thanks, is it machined for smoothness or just for the holes? Smoothness I guess is with a buffer? How smooth do aluminum casted parts come out usually?
Hi,
Good ideal, pls try to keep posting. I like this topic very much and I will digged this one. Tks again.
pretty sure it's polished and buff to get that shinny. cast aluminum wouldn't come out like that. i think there might be some kind of chemical polishing on aluminum. I know you can do electro-polishing on stainless steel. but still, the surface need to be some what sand/polish to get it pretty smooth.
definitely buffed, but most likely produced with a very high quality casting technique so finish is pretty good to start (investment casting maybe, I don't know if you could die cast anything like that???). You can even get aluminum sand castings (low tech, small numbers of pieces, rougher finish) to shine like that, but it takes a bit of extra hand work.
