Material Equivalent to Grade 8 Nut

We're quoting a customer on a job machining some hex nuts. We're having trouble deciphering the material spec.

The customer has told us that it's a carbon steel equivalent to a grade 8 nut. Does anyone happen to know what material is used to create a grade 8 nut?

    Thanks in advance!

The material used for Grade 8 nuts has a yield strength of about 130,000 psi so I think you are into the range of alloy steels. More or less equivalent to 4140 or similar.
An open mind is a virtue...so long as all the common sense has not leaked out.
