    Cnc end mill milling question

    I have a VM-10(Hurco).

I'm trying to speed up my cutting time on a project.

    Cutting 1018 (1.25sq - .025 thk)stock
I'm removing all material in the X-axis holding the material on the thickness.

I need to leave .26 out of the 1.25.
And it has to be .610 deep cut out.

I'm currently using 1.25 (6 flute) end mill. Taking all material out at once.
    RPM 381
    Feed 1.5
    Surface speed 125

It takes the program 1min 8sec to complete.
I have 230 to run total.

What would be the fastest way to remove that amount of material?

    Please help!!

With a coated cutter you could run at 400 t0 600 fpm which is 4000 to 6000 rpm. Even if you where taking a modest chipload of 0.001" per tooth this means your feed can be 24 to 36 ipm. This would be running dry with an airblast.

An open mind is a virtue...so long as all the common sense has not leaked out.
