My billet iphone case design

What do you think ? honest thoughts please, something I have designed to protect my phone more

If you made this for yourself I think it is a nice exercise in design and milling.

If you made it with a view to commercialisation, I'm not so convinced. My thoughts sit somewhere between "You wasted a whole bar of aluminium to produce that?", and "Too big, too heavy, too prone to damage".

There are thousands of iPhone cases on the market, I don't think you could compete with this design. What do you see as its unique selling points?

anything solid like this could pass the shock from dropping thru to the phone. i would have a rubber case instead for that reason alone....

How does this affect the transmit/receive? Would this act like a Faraday cage?

Regardless, it looks cool. I know machining thin sections can be tricky.

How are you attaching the 2 halves together? I am going to be doing this with my Ipod Touch. I plan on resisting shock better with using my Otterbox rubber and plastic case underneath the billet case.

Caprirs makes a good point. I made a case for my flip phone when i was in college using a manual mill, and it killed the signal by half...
