    feed, speed and depth of cut for 1/16" carbide EM in brass

    Two flutes. I am limited in spindle to 2500 rpm, but I might make a tool holder for a dremel or something.

    I hope you don't have a lot of cutting to do

    < 1 IPM for starters with a full diameter and .010 DOC, you can see how that goes and fudge it up a wee bit from there.

    Lets say I get a spindle to go 20,000 rpm how about then? I can't figure out Me consultant.
    I wish it wouldn't crash.

    Well, if you use Ken's chip load, @ 20k the feed works out to 8ipm. Thats actually pretty light on the chipload for brass. (No offense Ken ) I take a bigger chipload for the 1/16. But as Ken said, you can pick it up from there.

    It's just a part..... cutter still goes round and round....

    I can't figure out Me consultant
    Then you did not try very hard Eric.

    1) Enter 20000 as the "RPM Limit", then click "Reset" at the bottom of that column
    2) Select material at top
    3) Select "Carbide End Mill" from tool list
    4) Enter 2 in the "Flutes" box
    5) Enter .010 as the Cut Depth"

    Hit the enter key after entering the values.

    Let me know what you get.

    No offense taken, the values that ME Consultant calculates are intentionally conservative, and considering he is going to use a Dremel I would suggest he stay conservative

    Thanks. I wasn't hitting enter after changing values. Was wondering why stuff wasn't being affected by my inputs.

    says HP is .005 so dremel should do it.

    I ran 8ipm 6000rpm or so in copper with a 1/16" EM doing .02" depth, you shoudl be capable of that in brass.
    so 2500rpm would be around 2-4ipm.

    I'm digging into the code right now. ME Consultant 2.0 already gives reasonable output for this combination of tool and material. The problem was introduced into MEPro and has been corrected. A corrected version, which will include a number of new features, should be available by the end of the week.
