Hi everyone, As a newbie could someone please advise me on the type of cutter, and the speed of same and the feed speed for cutting letters out of
3/16 brass sheet, I have used a single flute tct cutter and while it cuts
cleanly the edge has a distinct round on it after only one letter cut (1.5 ins
high) have been cuing at 5000 revs with a 10 thou cut at 12 ins per min
Am I way off?? any advice would be gratefully received
depending on the material you are cutting and the material of your cutter, you look up the recommended range for SFM (surface feet per minute) from a table. google can help you find this. Brass should be in the 100-200 range.
then use that number and the diameter of your cutter to come up with RPM.
google can help you find a calculator or the formula.
if your mill is 0.125", then 5000rpm is in the ballpark.
you may want to slow down your feedrate to like half that. is it getting hot?
what do you mean distinct round? on the cutting edge? or the brass cut edge?
