using portable router on aluminum

anybody use a portable router on aluminum??

in theory slowing a portable wood router and using some wax or spray oil like WD-40 and carbide bits you should be able to use a router on aluminum.

even if it required a router table and wrapping nylon stocking to filter router air inlets from metal dust it would be very nice to be able to make dovetail slides for making machine tool parts.

i assume the depth of cuts or stepover would have to be small like 0.010' to 0.020" to help prevent over heating and sticking metal to router bit edges.

a coolant air mist is possible although could get messy. i was just wondering if anybody has tried using a portable router on aluminum.

A soft-start, high quality router like a Porter Cable works GREAT!

Wax or WD-40 can help, but you can machine it dry with a good carbide bit. Use a guide rail or pattern where possible. And eye and ear protection.
