I'm wanting to do slitting using my mill. I'd like to have a general purpose arbor for mounting slitting saws, and I think this will work: New TsD Tool Cat 40 1" Milling Stub Arbor | eBay But I've never used a slitting saw so I'm not sure if this will work. I'm not sure which blades to buy and if I'll be limited if I buy this arbor. For blades I'd like to hold at least 4" but maybe 6" or 8" diameter blades, maybe more. I'd also like to hold thin blades on occasion. I'm a little out of my depth here so help is appreciated! |

| we made our own , I used a 1" dia endmill holder then make the arbor mount to piece out of 17-4 the bottom( bushing part) we made out of 7075 I Think alum works better than steel because its more abrasive and keeps the blade from turning in the fixture,I also notice that using alum also keeps the singing down( acts like a vibration dampener.) used a 1/2-20 grade 8 cap screw and harden washer I didnt like then angled screws cause they also got stuck. made one to use bushings, for example if you are using 3-4" blades then need a 8" blade you can put in a different bushing with a bigger outside dia, to support most of the dia if you have the clearance in the part.( and ofcoarse inside dias as well.) we used them up to 1/4" thick in full rad's/ to cut 304ss havent had problems.other than shaken the fadal |
