Hello everyone, hope all is going well. I'm looking for some insight and suggestions on ways to get into the medical manufacturing field. We currently do welding for a few of these type of firms. But would like to get in with some others as well. That way we could have some production to supplement the mold welding we currently do. The ones we deal with currently came via word of mouth. Thinking maybe bringing a sales rep on might best way. Just want some opinions from others. I attached some pics from some other companies that do the type of work we're looking to get into. Thanks Dan http://www.microfusionwelding.com Last edited by microfusion; 03-27-2011 at 10:24 AM. Reason: added pics |

| Alot of medical companies need ISO 9001 certification, we are a mold builder and never went thru that process, that would be a question to ask. We do not do much medical molding because of it.. I have mixed feelings about this ISO process. Seems like a ton of useless paperwork but it would perhaps open a few doors for you as well. |

hi'ya microfusion, the system is there to quantify the reliability of a company to adhere to required procedures, very much as references to an applicant of a job and there CV. Companies with ISO 9000's (or otherwise cert. by the ISO system) have a certified and regularly checked production documentation system in place. see What is ISO 9001? - www.the9000Store for more inf. I have worked within the medical devices field and to get contracts you will need to apply to - e.g. baxter, tyco, elan, GKS, etc - for their contract/tender departments for applications to participate. tyco use an on-line tender/quoting system across the board of products they require. some of these contracts are long standing and you will need to be better, quicker, cheaper(not always), flexible to demands and reliable on delivery to make in roads to the sector. a blanket offer of services to the sector may get you in contact with the companies that reply, but I do not know of anyone who came in "by word of mouth". good luck - I always root for the underdog ![]() ![]() kelef |
