Hey everyone thanks for advance in reading my question. I've recently taken up metal crafting in my garage, i've purchased a MIG welder, a few different cutting tools and a couple different cuts of steel from a steel warehouse. I love the polish i can get by just using different grit wheels on my angle grinder but when it comes to repolishing after a weld and trying to get the angle grinder into small little corners and notches that i've cut out..thats sometimes impossible. Depending on how my weld looks and the surface of what i'm griding or trying to polish sometimes it just eats up those polishing wheels pretty quickly. Is there some other technique of polishing that I could possibly pursue? Would sandblasting get me the nearly mirror like surface that using these different grit polishing wheels have been getting me? |

a site on metal polishing Metal Polishing Questions . not sure what you are getting at. hard grinding wheels should remove surface of rough welds. also a rotary file in a die grinder or even 1/4" shank abrasive wheels and flap disc and flap wheels are used to smooth first. sounds like you are trying to use polishing disc on far too rough a surface . rubber abrasive wheels and surface conditioning disc are then used to get to a 320 grit finish. . from there buffing wheels will take to a mirror finish |
