While picking up some aluminum, I broke down and purchased a Rage 2 cold saw. I have been eyeing it for a while. The steel shop has a number of them in use and the guy on the floor spike positively about it. I cut 1", 2" steel and 3" aluminum with it over the weekend. Cuts steel with no effort. The steel has no heat add due to the cut. The blade also was no warmer after 5 cuts through the 1" & 2". The bits if dwarf flying every where are CRAZY hot. Ouch! Cutting the aluminum is slower than steel due to gumming up the teeth. This was avoided by cutting slower. Overall, I am very pleased for $279 new. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk |

i got 2 of these (1 for work and 1 for home) 7-1/4" Metal Cutting Circular Saw ......portable circular saw cuts 3/8" steel plate like cutting a 2x10" wood board. ......when the guys at work saw me zip through 1/4" steel twice like i was cutting plywood that get the look, like thats impossible but it was done repeatably with no problem. .....if fact only problem i saw is cutting steel plate so fast it drops to the floor and bounces and breaks your leg. best thing i can think of is cut steel plate on a wood pallet on each end on the floor. That way the cut piece is supported when it is cut free. ......As i have told others "it is not a friction saw" and "it is not an old fashioned cold and slow circular metal saw", you might be turning 3500 rpm instead of 5000 rpm but it is still going fast enough for the blue chips to go flying. .....Greatest technological leap in metal cutting I have seen in over 30 years. |
