Hello All, So im making some parts with a dual lead stub acme thread and ive done some test parts and realized that its kinda hard to start the threads cause it seems to want to rock one way or the other and only catch one thread what im asking is what is the best way to make the lead into these threads? should i mill the thin lead off to were they start with a full width thread like they do on Thread gauges? or is there a better way to do it? i tried just putting different angle chamfers on the starts but it only kinda helped its a 6 TPI Dual thread cut with a 12 TPI insert both internal and external 1" dia. Thanks |

| Yes im using a single point tool, its being cut on a Mazak Super Quick Turn 18-MY. im just programming it using the Mazatrol just set the multi 2 to 2 entries. the threads work fine its just getting them started when screwing them together it wants to start on one lead or the other unless you have them lined up just right. |
