I have a friend who requires a dovetail slide with adjustable gibb.

My knowledge and experience with them is somewhat limited so I was thinking it would be better to get someone who understands them make them rather than me doing it wrong and wasting time and money.

The mounting plate is 5in x 7in (same size as the slide) and the required length of travel is 20in, it lifts 54lbs of static weight vertically and is mounted on a 4in x 4in x 32in square tube, the original tube with integral dovetail was cast iron and was damaged, it's no longer available so the thought is to fabricate the slide and bolt it to a square steel tube of the same size (I donated the tube because I had some extra pieces).

The original dovetail was 3.25in wide and offset to one side on the vertical tube with 4 set screws to adjust it on the oposite side.

The slide (5in x 7in) is broken in 3 pieces and we're told isn't worth trying to fix it because welding and machining to make it right far outweighs the cost of making a new slide.

We don't expect it to be done for free (unless you're really generous) and we accept that there are costs involved and it basically comes down to finding some who can and is willing to make it?

I'll have the machine in my possession in the next day or two and it looks like I'll be fixing the machine once we have a slide for it so I can help with information or measurements if you need it.

If you can help please contact me or you can contact Robert Sharpe directly at websrvr@macftphttp.serverbox.org, thank you.
