How many hours did this take?

    37 x 12 inches. 1/4" thick 6061. I started with a 3D IGS file. I just added up my hours and

Just wondering what kind of time you guys would expect to spend on a project like this.

If I had a 42x18 CNC mill with a good CAD/CAM system, a tooling plate with a 2" grid pattern of holes to use to bolt the part down, I would hope I could make in 10 hours or less, Start to Finish with tolerance of .007" or so. At any rate, I still wouldn't enjoy it. If I could get down to 6-8 hours, I'd be happy.

But maybe It's harder that it looks.

Right now it's stripped down to the frame. It's going to be a LOT nicer in a few days here.

For the record, it's not my car. The owner has quite the collection of interesting cars.

That looks like 6-8 hours, id probably quote 6 if the drawing was 100% importable into cad without touchup.

That's also assuming all features can be milled from one side and the machine is large enough you dont have to shift the part.

There are counter sinks on the front side. It's done and delivered. The guy loved it and he paid for almost all of my time. I know some time was blown because I had to clean up a 3D IGS file to do 2D toolpaths. Maybe I will try to use Version 23 of BobCad next time. Maybe.

Anyway, here are the floor braces.

Dash installed! In the first pic you can see the airplane ignition kill switch that I bored out to fit the car's ignition switch. I slotted the plunger, cut the key down and inserted it into plunger.

Note the way over-engineered mirror bracket at the top center of the dash.

    The mirror housing.

It's going to be tough to swing that mag compass so close to all that metal. ;-)
