Hello,

If I have a print that calls out a 9/16 - 18 UNC tap, can I use a 9/16 - 18 NF tap, seein' as its that only 9/16 - 18 tap in the shop???

What's the difference between UNC, UNF, NC, NF anyway???

9/16-12 is UNC 9/16-18 is UNF

UNC UNF are the 1960 Unified Thread series. NC NF are the older National Series.

I'd say that's a typo. It's probably supposed to be 9/16-18 UNF.

UNC = Coarse thread pitch
UNF = Fine thread pitch
Typo, Prolly one a dem dare collage Engineers.
