Im curious to see what everyone else who works with aluminum does to prep their parts for getting them anodized. I just recieved back my first ever anodized aluminum part and wasnt satisfied with the finish. I own some aluminum parts that have been anodized and they all have a nice matte finish on them, and thats what im after. Its T6 6061 Alum. and what i did was buff them with scotchbrite pads that attach to a 90° die grinder. And all those buffing marks showed thru the anodize. Maybe im using too aggressive of scotch brite pad??? What kind of abrasives should i be using?? Thanks in advance |

| You should be posting a query like this in this forum which is for finishing, however it is difficult to find: http://www.cnczone.com/forums/forumd...ysprune=&f=280 To get an even matte finish you will probably have to use a tumbler or bead blasting. Trying to do it with scotchbrite is difficult because for an even appearance you have to have scartches running in all directions. Using a die grinder is too fierce and because all the marks are in line they really show up after anodizing. Go and read through the threads in the link I gave and you should be able to dig out some information.
