| The Guhring GU500 series with TiN coating is a very cost-effective drill for general purpose stainless work. That's the series I'd recommend to anyone, unless they're looking at all-out production type stainless work. Best regards, Chuck

| The GU500 series covers pretty much everything you might see, short of hardened steels 40+Rc, titaniums, filled composites and chilled cast irons. That leaves a pretty broad range of materials.

| thanks for the advice, just got mine today. they are awesome. they are not really faster than other cheaper drills, but when they load up in 304 or hit a hard spot and you hear that barking crunch, these just keep going whereas the cheaper drills shatter. to the original poster, if your using 304 plate like we do, you might wanna set your pecks to .05" due to it wanting to gum up on you and load up the relief flutes. i tried .1, .15, .25, earlier today and it gummed up the same as the cheaper drills do, its just crappy stainless. |
