Got a print in that calls for Merten 4140 for material. Called my service center and they have never heard of it. The print is old so I am thinking this material is either a brand name or just something that is obsolete. Does anyone have any info on it? |

| Sounds like a Brand name - 4140 is a heat treatable steel, comes annealed or with some hardness to it. Millmark has a good point but I think the spellings are too far apart. Be safe - talk to your customer or whoever this part(s) is for and ask them for material specs. |
