Question need help with dads tools

hello to all, very fine forum you all have here. i'm not a machinist, however my dad was an experimental machinist in the space and defense industry for 30+ years ( his work is in the smithsonian, made the claw for the first viking mars lander). he passed away 11 years ago and i've left all his tools alone until now. i have many, many measuring tools ( calipers, etc. )and cans and cans of different taps and screw extractors.i dont want to throw this stuff away, i believe there might be a market for these items. also, not knowing exactly what everything is , i would probably get ripped off. so my question's are....1. is there a market for used equiptment? 2.what is this stuff worth ? and last 3. i want somebody in the industry to have it, somebody that would appreciate it's past and would use it with skill. any suggestions ? any kind of help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Buy me a Beer?

there is a good market for used quality tooling , ebay would probably fetch the highest price for individual items or at least be a good indicator on what prices you can expect to charge
if you provide some pics then i'm sure everyone will behappy to roughly evaluate the worth for you

Yes, there is a market and yes some pictures or a listing of said tools would help in evaluating their potential worth. I for one am always on the look out for older tools, they always seem to last for a long time more so than most of the newer Chinese stuff.

I use em the youngsters dun know how to use em so they don't get "borrowed" lol my digitals are always going AWOL.

Also, there's nothing worse than having a digital caliper battery dying on you mid production, heh.

I hauled my dad's tools along with me for several moves. I finally took some of them for my usage and called around some of the tool & die shops to see who had an apprenticeship program. I split up the tools to various programs because apprentices don't always have money to by tools. I think your dad would be proud to know his tools were still in trade, even if he wasn't. P.S. I gave them away, not sold them.

Thanks. Mike
