    XYZ Interpolation

I'm trying to create an arc in a block of aluminum that has a radius in the Z axis, but also moves in the XY.

    I'm using a Haas VF2. I thought that using G18 G03 with X, Y, Z and R defined. It did not.

    Can someone help.

    thanks.

This question came up in this thread:

    G17, G18 and G19 explanation please

I did some experimenting with my MiniMill and describe what I found in post #17.

When you try to program a Z radius along the X axis it works.
When you try to program a Z radius along the Y axis it works.

When you try programming a Z radius across both X and Y something seems to go funny.
An open mind is a virtue...so long as all the common sense has not leaked out.

    Thanks Geof!

I read through the post and found the section where you tried to do an ellipse about the YZ. That gave me the info i was looking for.

heres what i ended up useing,
    G18 G03 G91 X-0.2795 Y-0.113 R0.215 D02 F2.

    Thanks again.
