Turning 420 stainless steel. Seems to cut ok in smaller doc. but I'm trying to turn a 7" part that tapers 0.055" to 0.625" over that length. To make matters worse this is on a swiss machine. Pinch turning is the only thing i can do since after the material is turned outside of the guidebushing there is nothing i can do so i cannot take multiple passes. This is on an ECAS20. I'm looking for anyone with experience with this material and maybe some places to start with feeds/speeds. So far i've welded the part up or got one part out while breaking all turning tools in the process. 420 ss vs me...not looking good. |
