    Help Please Feeds and Speeds

    I’m new to CNC Programming. I am trying to work out speeds and feeds of a 7 tooth carbide milling cutter. The material is mild steel.
    The information on the carbide inserts are:-
    Vc (m/min) 350 – 150
    Fz (mm) 0.05 – 0.15
    Ap (mm) 0.1 – 2.0
    Dia 63mm

    Using formulas I have worked out the following

    Vc = 150
    Fz = 0.15
    Ap = 2
    Teeth = 7
    Dia = 63

    RPM = 793
    Feed = 833
    It would be much appreciated to have a second opinion on these results before I start machining.

    Many thanks.

    Yes, close enough.... I'd go 750rpm, 800mm/min but like all things you need to experiment with your machine to get a feel for whats its really capable of. Thats a big cutter, you might need to start at slightly slower spindle speed (say 600rpm) and feed rate (say 450mm/min) (that's a feed/tooth of 0.1) and and see how it goes then ramp it up...

    A lot will depend on the rigidity of your mill!
