help finding some new measuring tools

    hey!

un surprisingly, my el cheapo digital caliper crapped out... but frustratingly, my .0002" digital caliper crapped out not 2 days after my other one did...

I am in the market for some new measuring tools. I was looking around and havn't really found anything i liked. it either looks like junk, or really expensive(and only .001" accurate gah). Ideally i would like .0005" accuracy. Should i go with a caliper or some micrometers? ive been looking on craigslist for some starrett tools but havn't found too much.

    Cheers!

Calipers, either dial, digital or vernier should not be trusted for measurements tighter than .001, well, really no tighter than .005, regardless of quality. If you need finer resolution, micrometers are in order, with digital readout or vernier. Mitutyo, Brown & Sharp and Etalon, Starrett, Mahr, even Fowler or Scherr-Tumico
