    Sieg X3 quill problem

My mills quill has a bit of play, did any of you owners of this machine need to adjust it out? If so how did you do it? I can move the bit a few .001 and when I tried to cut a piece of steel taking .020 or so the bit was moving off from the direction of cut.
    Thank You,
    Paul G

Is it the quill it's self or the spindle shaft(bearing play) thats moving?

A dial indicator mounted on the head casting, first against
against the quill ,then against the spindle shaft or
    tool holder will tell.

I can get movement right at the tool bit installed in the holder, so I believe it's the bearings. It looks like that bearing can be adjusted for preload??

would it be possible to post a copy of the relevent page
    in your manual.

Is the tool seated properly in the taper

sometimes the little spindle key that fits the groove on R8 tools
is set to far out or the groove on the tool is not deep enough
