Understanding Post- Processors

Hello All:

I would like to get a better understanding of how the Post processor syntax works

for example ..

PROBX , 19,
PROBY , 18,
RAPID , 5,
RESET , 15,
RETRCT , 7,
REWIND , 1006,
STOP , 2,

What does this mean ... the numerical value ..

/
*START_NC_COMMAND NC_FEEDRATE
*START_LIST MFG_FEED_UNIT
IPM ,IPR
*END
FEDRAT/%MFG_FEED_VALUE,&MFG_FEED_UNIT
*END
/

How do I iterpret this ... what is the actual CAM system feeding this ???!!

If anyone out there could give me a breif explanation fo NC post processors that would be really great. Thank you all in advance ...

I think you might get more help if you specified the CAM system you are using. Better yet, post this question in that software's forum if covered on this site. Knowing the type of machine the post is for would also help a lot.

I have only used MasterCam, and feel pretty safe in saying that isn't Mastercam output. At least not for any of the lathes or mills I am familiar with. It could still be Mastercam, just for a type of machine I have no experience with. That's why it is important to provide a decent amount of information when asking a question.

Most of us aren't clairvoyant.

Thanks for the reply g-codeguy:

you're right I possibly didn't give enough info. and I'll see whether i could post this in the correct section of this site if one exists. Shown is the syntax of the PPTable that I use while outputting the code using CATIA V5 CAM system. Regards
