Lathe cut depth

Hello,
I'm new to operating lathes and machining metals. I was wondering if anyone has advice on determining cut depths for lathe operations givin the fact that I can determine the correct feed and speed for the material being cut.

If you are using indexable carbide inserts, the carbide manufacturers will have recommendations for feed, speed, depth of cut etc.

Otherwise there is old faithful "Machinery's Handbook" AKA the machinists bible.

get an old grade 111/12 text box and learn.....its too big a question to cover off in a forum paragraph or two. google the army machining manual, that'll get you started
