Buy/make a top nut for an Aloris BXA QCTP?

I had put away an Aloris (genuine) BXA set a few years back, and now that I dragged it out to install on a new machine I found that I'm missing the top nut.

Does anybody know what the thread on that nut is?

Or... if folks don't recommend that I just turn one or grab an off the shelf nut... Where I can buy just that top nut?

I did a search in google and CNCzone and didn't find anything related...

Thanks for any advice!

I don't know about the BXA, but my AXA "clone" had a metric 14mm x 1.5mm fine thread.

You can order an original through MSC industrial supply. Be prepared to pay through the nose though. Aloris has a minimum order and MSC gets a good chunk too! Best bet would be to download the pdf catalog from Aloris's website and see if it gives the thread size, then order a generic nut.

Thanks for the tips...

The import nut seems to have a different pitch than the aloris.

Does anyone know what page in the MSC big book it's on? i tried near the p.1606 but I didn't see one, just the T-bolts.

Also if anyone knows the actual pitch, that'd be great too! I couldn't find it on Aloris' site either...

You won't find it in the book, you'll have to call MSC and they will call Aloris and quote you a price. If your lucky maybe they will tell you the thread size.

What is the diameter of the screw?

It's a 5/8" or something really close to a 5/8"

The post on my CXA is a 3/4-16 - I'm surprised that it is a standard fine thread. According to the Alrois 2006 price list the Flange nut for the BXA is $11.00, don't be suprised if your quoted $20.00 or more.

I found some dimensions in the price list, it says the BXA has a 5/8 shaft so I'm assuming it is 5/8-18 thread, based on what my CXA is.

Don

Thanks for the info! If your CXA is a standard then I'd also guess that mine is too. I didn't want to try cranking on random nuts and crossthread the bar.

Those better be some gold plated nuts

This might be an ideal time to invest in a screw pitch gage. A cheap one is usually included with a tap and die set or one can be purchased separately.
