    G28 U0. should do it.

    Alternatively G53 X0.

g28 U(as in universe??) 0 (zero)?? I just tried that on my tormach and it did nothing. I didn't think about just sending it to absolute zero, duh, that's a great idea. I would have rather it actually depressed the switch and come back thereby homeing itself, but thiswill work. thanks,

    Turning

"G28 U0" - means go home in X incrementally from the current location

"G28 W0" - means the same for the Z direction

    ??

    I thought U was incremental X on a lathe.

What happens if you just do G28 X? Normally this sends the machine to zero in the current work coordinate system then to machine zero (home). I do not like this because it can cause a crash as it moves to the zero before going home; this is the reason for using incremental because a zero in incrmental means no movement, it (should) just go home.

I much prefer G53 because when you are using the machine coordinate ssystem you know exactly where it is going.

g530 works perfect, should have thought of that before writing this, but thanks for the additional information on g28, I have not used that before, although in my case it's doing nothing, other than if i put g28 z homes.
