    McMaster-Carr Ballscrews

    Hi,

I was just looking at the ballscrews available at McMaster-Carr (to go into a planned very small cnc mill I am building from scratch). Originally I was thinking to go with acme thread and delrin nut, however ballscrews would make life easier for my possibly too small steppers.

When using the 5/8" diameter screw, with the correct ballnut what sort of backlash compensation is required? Should two nuts be used? I have worked out that I can buy all three axis from them cheaper than what I can get just the screw for in Australia which is why I am considering it.

Has anybody else got this set up running their machine?

    Thanks

    Ben

    Hello Ben..

For your Ballscrews and Ballnuts, have you priced the ISEL available from Applied Automation and Engineering in Melb. Ph: 03 - 95455011 ask for Kevin.

I am using the ISEL ballscrews for my Z axis... they are excellent and well priced. Cheaper than McMaster-Carr.

    cheers
