Deawoo Vs OKK Horizontal

Hello to everyone
We are looking to buy a new machine and because of price and other
conciderations are choice has come down to the Daewoo Ace HC400 or the OKK HM40.
Our company machines material along the lines of stainless steel Chrome
Duplex and Nickel alloy Inconel.
Has anyone had experiance with either of these machines?

Having worked 16 years for the Canadian distributer for OKK
(field service and then service manager)
I might have a bit if a bias in that direction, the OKK is a very well
built machine and they DO last a very long time.
Having said that, My friend(and form coworker)
is service manager for the Canadian dist for Daewoo and he feels that
the Daewoos are very close to OKK now (as opposed to ealier models).
I would strongly suggest that you try cutting your materials
on both of these machines before you purchase either,
these machines are designed primarily for aluminum and cast iron, and depending
on the nature of your work neither of them might be suitable.
If your work is drilling, tapping, flattening of bosses
and other light milling, they will both work extremely well
but if you work involves heavy metal removal these
machines "might" not be the best choice for you.
Finally both machines are equiped with thought the spindle coolant,
consider it mandatory for the materials
you are cutting and preferably with a 1000psi or better
pump (that applies even with al. and iron)

When I was looking for my horizontal machining center early last year, I looked at both of those machines as well as many others. I would definitely have choosen the OKK over the Daewoo without a second thought if I had to choose between these two manufacturers. I'm not saying Daewoo is bad, however OKK has been producing horizontals much longer, and is a much faster machine. OKK's are also manufactured in Japan vs. Korea, and it's common knowledge that some of the best machine tools are produced by the Japanese. Korea has made huge strides compared to Taiwan, however most would agree they are still a few years behind in technology, reliability, and quality compared to Japan. I suppose an analogy in the automotive world would be Toyota vs. Hyundai or Kia. Another factor is resale value--a Japanese machine will always command a better resale price than a Korean machine.

I have several friends with Toyoda's and Matsuura's. Both are great. The Toys have been making Horiz for a long time and are great machines. Don't know much about the Daewoo. And the OKK is a well known machine.
How is the OKK vs the Toy cost wise? What size range are you looking at? Come across with the dirty details
As always the distributor that sells the machine is what makes or breaks you with these.

The Toyoda is about $30K more than the OKK. This is a 450mm machine (500 for OKK)

One thing to remember is to compare apples to apples. These friggen machine tool builders are pretty sneaky when it comes to options. On the quotes that I have personally seen, the Toy's come with a lot of bells and whistles that you have to option out on some other machines. I have no knowledge of how the OKK comes options wise.
Don't know your dealer status but the DMG's have some cool stuff anymore and fast
