    Exclamation Bostomatic tool holder specifications

Hi. We recently purchased an older bostomatic 300 mill, and even though we have a very good tool holder selection, I am looking at purchasing more for ER collets. The tool holders seem to be a little shorter than what I am familar with and was wondering if anyone knew what type they are so I can purchase new ones.

    Thanks

We have older bostomatic 400 single and multi spindle mills. Not sure if the collet size will be the same but we use ER-16 on 40,000 RPM spindles and ER-20 on the 24,000 RPM spindles. Hope this will help some.

Sorry maybe I shout have been a little more specific. I am curious at to weather or not they are BT-CAT- or possibly a proprietary taper. I have 2 er 32 tool holders but want 15-20. Carbide tooling does not like to have screws tightened. I have cracked 6 tools so far. getting annoying, and HHS / CObalt does not cut as well. Hohummm should have bought anew machine.. The accuracy of it is incredible though, and can interpolate holes within .0005.. Better than many machines using a boring bar..

    Kmed,
took a little research but here it is.
SKI-20 for the 40K spindles and SKI-25 for the 24K's. We purchase these through Schaublin or Precise.

The toolholders for the Bostomatic SC82 spindle, which is the 40,000 RPM is a 20 taper toolholder, and Schaublin or Precise are the only places you can get the holders. They are ER16 collet holders & run $430.00 each from Precise. I made the mistake of trying an ISO 20 taper toolholder that Techniks makes for the Haas OM-1, which is less than half the cost, and it does not fit. However, Techniks may make toolholders based on your specifications. Agie Charmilles / Mikron now owns Bostomatic. They are locted in Holliston MA., and will give you the toolholder specs. Precise also will have them listed on their website.

Bostomatics also used Universal Quick Switch holders in the main spindle. The Universal Q/S has two appendages protruding from the sides. Ours used Universal Q/S 300 size in the main spindle.
