Manual For Sharnoa SD 850

I have a generic type manual for a Sharnoa Mill but it's not specific to our SD 850 model. Does anyone know where I can buy a copy or an original version of this SD 850 model. Names addresses, phone numbers ect would be helpfull.

Not sure if I still have a manual, but is this a Tiger III, IV control. Also I have some general knowledge of this machine and control if you have a specific question.

I believe the company that makes the control is still doing business in Plymouth MI and should be able to get you a copy of any manul for their machine control.

This is a Tiger 4 control. We dont have a specific question. We have had some problems getting the machine to run. A PCB was out (fixed it), and we had to reset the PLC to get the Spindle to run. We got the spindle to run manually after hitting M3 S5500. M4 command in MDI mode does nothing for the spindle. Our PLC says its running at 57hz in M3, but we cant get the spindle to go the other direction. Some things just seem odd, so we are looking for the original manual to see if it shades any light to our questions.

We have a manual for how to do programing and such, but we are also going to run the machine thru CNC software. We also have a Operating manual for Tiger 4, but the picture of the machine is a SDC 40-15.

I dont know if we have the right stuff and if we do it sure is very, very old school in its explaination of things. You know like why is the spindle not rotating the other direction. Maybe we are doing something wrong but our manuals say nothing about it. The manual says "Look over here", "See that button?", "Hit it". Well that doesnt help.

Have you run your machine thur CNC software before? We might have a question or two there.

Thanks for your help,
Cowboy

The original SD 850 is an Anayak Spanish Knee Mill of good mechanical. The original knee mill had a manual spindle with variable speed pulleys. A few may have been custom ordered with an AC inverter or later added by a previous owner. In any case the inverter wouldn't be added to the manual since it wasn't standard equipment.

Check the analog cable from the inverter. It should be a three conductor cable running to a rack of cards in the Tiger 4.

Give the spindle a command of half maximium rpm CW. This should produce something like 5VDC from this cable to the input of the spindle. Check this with a digital voltmeter at the input of the inverter.

Then do the same thing CCW. You should then see -5VDC or something close.

If you only see a DC voltage with M3 then the most likely problem is the ADC chip coming from the spindle card in the Tiger 4 rack.

I am not a programmer, but have run this machine with the control years ago.
If you ask me a specific question I may be able to answer it.

Hope this helps you.

Okay I think I have a specific question for you. First let me give you a little back ground on where we stand with running the machine. We have what we think is a manual that might be for Tiger 3 control when we have a Tiger 4 controler machine. Also, we are wanting our Funuc g-code, to speak correctly to our machine. Not all machines speak the same commands (g-codes), so we are getting an addition software to our CNC software that will convert standard Funuc to speak with our Sharnao Tiger 4. Basiclly, it converts the code to the commands the Tiger 4 will understand.

So now here's the question. How many of the Tiger 4 g-codes do you know or remember? We want to verify if the manual we have is really for a Tiger 4 controller. If all looks good then we can program the conversion software to take the standard funuc into our Tiger 4 commands.

Thanks for you help.

We program a part into memory at the controller, the program will not start. Let me explain a little and maybe you can shade a little light. Anyone? In the edit mode the functions are entered, and then the knob is turned to Auto, and then we hit Cycle Start. Then we get a message at the top of the CRT saying something like this, “The plug is not plugged in, or the cap is off (Y/N)”. We answer it either way with Y or N, and nothing executes. Strange?

We have searched the machine over and cannot locate this Cap? / Plug? Do you know what this means?
