iso-30 spindle conversion for the Seig X3

Hello,

I keep running into cnczone.com posts on the web about iso-30 and bt-30 type spindles
for various benchtop mills. The problem is these posts are old and I can find little or
nothing about (spindle kit vendors etc) it on the web.

There was some mention of a spindle conversion being sold by *industrialhobbies.com*
but apparently that was two years ago or more and there does'nt seem to be anything on their site about it now.

Is there any current info on replacement spindles (automated tool change type) for the Seig X3 for #30 taper tool holders?

Thanks.

Robert W.

Exclamation NMTB 30 spindles

Industrial Hobbies (back when Aaron owned the outfit) had looked into, and had a small lot of NMTB 30 spindles made up specifically for the IH mill.

IH (Now) offeres the NMTB 30 as an upgrade option ( for the IH mill, and no you can't make it fit an X3).

NMTB 30 requires a draw bar.

BT 30 uses pull stud type retention.

Doing a NMTB 30 for the X3 is something I have been exploring, most likely you would lose all quill movement as the spindle would be mounted in the head.

I doubt you will see much in the way of an automatic toolchanger, there just isn't much room there.

The Tormach system is likely your best bet for quick change tooling.
