Following Error...Fagor 800t on lathe (X,Z axis)

As the title says, I'm getting a following error on a Lathe with a Fagor 800T control. When attempting to move the x or z axis, display will briefly show a coordinate change (as if moving) but axis does not move, following error then occurs, and display goes back to previous reading. The error can be reset, but it comes right back when attempting to move the axis again. Machine won't zero, shut down and restart does not help.

Any ideas??????

Sounds like you still have control power and DC power for the encoder counts...I would check the fuses for the high voltage supplied to the drives. Also, with e-stop in there should be no power to the servos- allowing you to move an axis by hand. Any binding? Binding will also cause this problem. Do you have encoder counts when manually pushing either axis? If so, the problem is likely in either the motor/tach(not likely that both motors are bad), motor cable(same senario), or a drive. Do the drives display an error?

Axis turn freely when not under power and movement is NOT reflected in readout. No errors on drives and the fuses 'look' fine. (don't have tester with me),... BUT there is a fault light on the power supply to the drives. The drives themselves reflect no errors, even when control reflects the error. The drives have resets on them, but the power supply has none. Does it sound like there is something faulting out the power supply, or would it likely be in the power supply itself? Thanks for the input!

It will be tough to troubleshoot without a meter. I am not familiar with the machine/components, but you need to determine then if you do have bad fuses(possibly within power supply) or if the P.S. is actually generating the 5vdc to the encoders. If you have no pulses at the control then you might want to find out what motion control board is processing the encoder counts and replace it. Since this is common between two axis...swapping motors/cables may not help. Do you have another same model machine? I'm sure someone more familiar with your machine will jump in here...

It is indicating a following error because the slide has not moved to where the control thinks it should be.This points to an axis drive fault.The fact you have a fault light on in the power supply for the axis drive probably means that the axis drive can`t action the movement request because one or more of it`s power inputs is missing.You need to fix the power supply and the axis drive should work or show you a fault light.
What make/model of drive is it?
