Just wondered,do you mean it allways picks up tool 1,or it will pick up the tool 1 spot lower then programed (t5 when t6 is called) ?
We are using Chevalier CNC Mill with Fanuc control.
Up until today there has never been any issue with the Tool Changer, but today it started picking up the wrong tool.
When it is programmed to pick up T2 it picks up T1. This happens with any tool number we program.
I have never seen this happen, but am hoping the solution is relatively simple.
I would appreciate any help.

Similar problem on a leadwell with OM control, would occasionly start selecting tools one pot out. Our machine used a proximity of some type for counting. Every so often, whilst machining, a piece of swarf would drop across the switch face, and it would increment by one, or sometimes more, hence putting the tool changer out. Cleaning all swarf from the surrounding area cured the problem. Seemed odd to me that the program did not just look at this switch whilst rotating, but would increment even if no rotation commanded. Bad program writing, programmers should always run the "what if" scenarios
We have an old comet vmc that this happens too from time to time. The tool magazine is rotated by a sproket and cam arm,and if for any reason it is interupted it can get out of wack. There's two ways to fix it,ether change the peramiters or fake it out by hitting e-stop in the middle of tool change.
Thanks for the answers - we will try these solutions and respond back later.
clean the tool changer and the proximity switches and reboot the machine, should fix it
or maybe a bad switch
