Acromatic 2100 questions

Good morning and Happy New Year Y'all. I have a few little questions about the Acromatic 2100 on my Cinci Arrow 500. They are:

1. How can I turn on to METRIC from Imperial? New customer is 90% METRIC and would like to program and run in METRIC. Can you go back and forth from METRIC to Imperial and back to METRIC very easily? What about taps, same feed rate of threads per millimeter like the threads per inch in Imperial?

2. I need a SET-UP for Dummies book for Multi set-ups? WHO do I set up say 2 vises and set up each side as on "fixture-offset"? Say left and right vise with a left and right on each?

I ONLY know who to set up with the "G92.1 X?, Y?, Z?" So as you can see I would need to be walked COMPLETELY though this operation. I haven't tried anything just in case I screw up and can't get back to square one.

Thanks, John

for metric or imperial just call M20 or M21, tapping in metric is the PICHxSPEED like an M10x1.5 you just type S200 F300.0

2100 questions

I am an ex cinci employee with many years experience on the 2100
It was the best control ever built
It has issues with hard disk drives and power supplies but other than that great power and very user friendly
siemens basically bought it to bury it
get rid of the competition and you own the world
Fanuc did the same with GE and its 2000 control in the 1980's
I would be more than happy to help you with any issues

I didn't use so much, but the few days I had a great time.. the acramatic is very easy and nice, the only problem we had with the cinci was my boss, we mill blades for another company, is a very havy work for small machines, but he doesn't listen, the machine is given an error on the spindle, said to check the servo connections and the board... samething hapend to a small lathe, he always want to do what is not recomended, go beiond limits.... and the worse, we can't stop the machines to service, he says that is a waste of time....

Peter,
I have always been wary of all Acramatics so don`t have any.Now you`re here I may reconsider. :-)
I do however run a few GE2000`s and like them, even the operators like them.Very easy, reliable controls.
My take on the GE/Fanuc thing was that GE paid for a share of Fanuc because they could not get market share with their own controls. This is how "Neutron Jack" explained it in his book.
What`s your view?

Mark.

It was a 50/50 joint venture company set up with Fanuc and cost GE $200,000,000.It was the biggest international deal GE had ever done at that time.

Acromatic 2100

I have two cincci 500 with acro 2100. But I cant DNC one of them. (Just bought it).

The machines ethernet option is available, and the floppy disk works. I am also 100% sure it is a software problem not hardware, and I get this strange feeling that I am just supposed to tick something and the problem will be solved.

The control is very simple, (alot like a PC). its a shame they stoped making it. very user friendly, but does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks

First I would do a comm setup comparison between the 2 2100,s
Push More Config Comm
Check protocol baud rate stop bits etc and set to the same as the control that works

Best Regards
Peter
