I have a vertical mill with a Bandit Controller. I can't seem to find anybody that does any work on them or the boards.
Does anyone have any idea who might work on these older controllers?
Thanks
Dave

Which model Bandit??? I do work on the Bandit III and IV. Also Albright Machine in Montana is one of the guys who origional developed the Bandit series before AB bought them out.

You might try here: although I have no Bandits to service, I used to get some work done here or at Albright's CNC Support Services.

Personally, I would no longer spend a dime to actually repair a Bandit. Its pricey, and you'd be better off selling your Bandit to someone else, and doing a retrofit to Mach3 or something. There are no redeeming qualities to a Bandit cnc.![]()

What exactly is wrong with the controller?
Star SR20RII/Fanuc 18i, DMG CTX310V4/Fanuc 32i, DMG CTX310ECO/Siemens 8400, Mori NV5000/MAPS, Bridgeport 760/Fanuc 18i, Kiamaster 4NEII60/Fanuc 3t;Partmaker, Gibbscam
Right on Hu. I found an older Hardinge Hnc with a dead bandit control.
I did not even attempt to get it working, removed a mountain of useless parts and refit with mach. Was far easier to do then my fagor refit.
Another machine should be here next week for a mach3 replacemant.
I have a complete Bandit control sitting on the shelf with a couple of
manuals.
Which model bandit do you have? I might be interested in purchasing it from you for parts. While I agree the Bandit I and II are basicaly obsolete junk, The III and IV are still quite useful.

I need help with a Shadow CNC machine. I am using a pc with Shadcomm software it shows files transmitting but it stops at like 84 bytes and there are 443 bytes to transmit. Then it says file transmitted successfully. The shadow does not show any file. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?
Thank you.
Gracie
Ok, I get an error now - Illegal I/O Character - I/O stopped.
Its says 432 bytes out of 443 files finished transmitting.
Can you tell me what this means? Thank you.
Grace
Grace,
What kind of communication settings are you using in Shadcomm? I suspect that you might be using software handshake, whereas the Shadow requires hardware handshake (and a proper cable to match). When you use software handshake, it will often carry on to completion at the computer end, but of course the machine will not see anything because it never gets a signal.
Also, if the baud rates do not match, then the transmission is garbled.
A certain character is used to begin the transmission, as well.
First you get good, then you get fast. Then grouchiness sets in.

When I put it in hardware handshake then it sits there forever waiting for the ok. What do you mean by a proper cable? Does it take a special cable. I didnt set it up and I really dont know how to use it, just trying to get it work.
I really need to make progress on it today.
Here were the settings I used to use in Shadcomm:
Baud 4800 (check Shadow setup for what rate it is set at)
Parity: none
Handshaking: hardware
data bits: 8
stop bits: 1
Pause: 0
start of transmit: nothing
end of transmit: ~D
First you get good, then you get fast. Then grouchiness sets in.
