South bend Magnaturn CNC Problem

Hi I have a South Bend CNC Lathe 1218 Magnaturn, about 1991 vintage and I'm having trouble loading new programs into the machine on a 3 1/2" floppy.
It worked great for two years now all of a sudden it will not take new programs.
I think the old computer has a funny way of formatting, with a SYS DIR file on the disk. I think mine got contaminated. The machine controll will load programs that are already in the memory so the machine is OK, It must be a bad disk.
Is anyone familiar with the way these old machines work and can anyone send me a new SYS DIR file for my disk. I didn't get any software with the machine.
The service guy at South Bend lathe in Indiana has been out for three weeks.

Our machine is doing the same thing, what suggestions does anyone have? We can't get any service on it & the IT guy is lost...

HI,

The magnaturn appears to be a 8088 computer, older dos machine.

If it cannot now read the floppy maybe your bios battery has failed and reset the floppy ( and bios) back to factory (computer) specs.

If this is true than the floppy was reset to a 720K??

I would check the bios settings..

I am a small business owner whom supports the old SouthBend Magnaturn 1218 lathe. I do control testing, electronic componet level repair, in-house machine control reconditioning and or repair and phone support. I have system operating software, several versions. Also I do have a limited supply of control boards however I can recondition yours. So whomever needs help I am here.
