Just received my G0602...

I just received my G0602 the other day... damaged

I posted pictures...
Grizzly 10x22 Benchtop Lathe - Tim's Machine Madness

The lathe is definitely fixable but I am very disappointed with the packing

I found a defect in the ways just below the chuck; again, very disappointing.

Just make sure that you inspect the lathe very closely upon receipt and document with Grizzly. I will let you know what they do for me.

OIL substitute

I ytalked to the technical support contatact at Grizzily and the rep told me that a good substitute is a 30 weight non detergent oil for lawn mowersetc. and that Home Depot is a good source. I found an ISO 68 30 weight oil on the shelf at the local Home Depot or if you go to an oil supplier you can order the Mobil product in 5 Gal cans for about $95.00. I am using the Home Depot stuff at about $ 9.00 a pint but no waiting time.

I'm new to lathes so I'd like to get someone's opinion on this issue. The manual says to use Mobil DTE Heavy-medium for the gearbox and 10W machine oil for the 11 ball oilers. I cannot find these oils in local stores by these names. I went to walmart, autozone, sears, and none of them have these names. Do I really have to look for these or are other equivalents I could use? I read that I should not use motor oil and I know that now. Where can I get oil for this lathe? Any on-line stores? I'd like to start the break-in process but I need the proper oil.

Many thanks,
