Looking For DIY CNC metal mill plans

Hello all. Im new here and I am seeking your expertise. I wish to build my own table - top CNC machine. But with all my browsing and googling, my searches for a DIY CNC machines only seem to turn up are foam cutters made from printers and dremels... I wish to mill things like copper, brass, and bronze. And unless I am mistaken, printer parts just will not do... I will likely NEVER work with anything over 6inch X 6inch, and likely not over an inch thick, but the ability to work with something thicker would be nice should the need arise. I find most of the big industrial machines are HIGHLY expensive for frills I dont think I will be using... I had a friend point me in the direction he thought I should be headed and arrived at a design like this: http://www.sixdesign.de/fraese.html. That friend has been wisked off by the military to do some great good and will likely not be around nor in contact for quite some time... So, does anyone here know of any DIY projects that fits my needs? Any way someone could point me to the next stop along the road? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have put together a webiste the steps you through the build of a CNC machine from scratch. I also delve into the fundamentals on plain English to help new CNCers. Check it out and I hope to see your build of whatever you decide on cnczone.

If you are using computer CAD, what software? I have a design you could use as a reference, but it is somewhat expensive to build because it uses THK slides, ballscrews and 8020 extrusions. Probably cost me about 1000$ in material/parts but its solid.

http://www.5bears.com is the best site I've seen so far with details on his construction of a bench top mill.

I have pictures and a small description (so far) on my wite:
