can anyone identify this cnc lathe?

Hi,

I have just won a small cnc lathe on ebay, and it has yet to arrive, but i was wondering if anyone here recognises the make / model?

ebay listing

It has connect numerical control, and cadet plus written on it, but i cant find anything through google. I bought it because the price was right, and i guess i will find out more about it when it arrives, but any hints as to the manufacturer would be appreciated

Toby,

I dont suppose you can remember anything about the post, which category its in, some words used in it, the author, when it was written?

Ive been searching, but am getting over 500 hits, so have a lot to go through.

Buy me a Beer?

I think Okuma made a Cadet model so this will probabally muddy the search a bit.

i did a bit of a search for okuma, but everything i have found is industrial size lathes, and this is a desktop model. It might just be a coincidence with the name, but i will look into it further.

I couldn't find it in the Subscribed List or remember who posted it. Did you try the Link I posted. If you click on the Names you will be sent to the manufacturers home page.

i went through all of the photos on the linked site, but none are even close. Trouble is i dont know how old this lathe is, so even if the companys still around they probably discontinued this one years ago. I would have thought that if they were still in business i would have gotten a few hits through google.

I remember a Chinese Manufacturer making a lathe simular to this one on ebay. Just can't seem to recall the name.

ok, i think i have found it. I ran across a mill on ebay from the same manufacturer with a clearer picture. It should be "Conect machine control", which was a uk machine builder that went bust a while back. I still cant find any real info, other then they were bought by d&m, which was then bought by labvolt.

something tells me im going to have a fair bit of work to do coaxing this antique back into service.

finally some success, turns out these were rather popular in schools in UK, i managed to track down a D&T teacher who shed some light on the lathe. They were made up to the mid 90s, and were based around a Myford ML10 lathe. The original software is unusable, but it sounds like i might be able to salvage the stepper drives, and just hook up to emc.
