Thumbs down Finding Ballscrews

Does anyone have any suggestions as where I can procur a pair of 60 inch ballscrews with finished ends, along with anti-backlash nuts? I have decided that I want to use a ballscrew with 10 threads to the inch. I'll be using the above in a cnc router with 60 inches on both the x and y axis. Price is not a major concern.

mcmaster.com

or search thk, nook industries, NSK, etc...

really now, when making a $2000+ purchase, dont you do any research?

make a list of manufacturers, get their product data, figure out which screw fits your application, then figure out how to justify the cost of new screws...

otherwise lurk on ebay.

Dont forget HIWIN.

Some of the McMaster Carr pieces are repackaged HIWIN's.

I price is not an object, limit your search to HIWIN and/or have it custom made to print by NSK.

There will be other ideas posted but a good precisions ground part from THK, NSK or HIWIN offer the BEST price/vs/quality relationship....

I've tried Techno-isel, Nook and Roton. Techno_isel is the only one that has responded.

i suppose i have heard lots of reports about these companies ignoring 'small requests' like 2 60" ballscrews...

i think the best bet is to figure out what you need yourself..

thk, for isntance, lets you 'configure' a 3D model, and you can use that as reference point. it allows you to select end machining style, mounting blocks, etc. and then generrates a part.. i think it also generates a part number you can use for ordering\quotation.

phone them, do not waste your time emailing them, as they either won't respond, or they will take weeks to respond. Hiwin has good phone service, give them a call.

Ditto the call to HIWIN. Got thru on first try with request for "tech support".

Don't assume anything. Call them to find out.

The only issue HIWIN mentioned about custom parts when I called them was time delay because custom parts were made off shore. Price and timing are ALWAYS going to be an issue as a 60" anything is probaby doing to have to be "special" for somebody.

Do you have a drawing for the ends, etc.? Some have a few standard end configuration choices. They are usually referred to as ballscrew assemblies....get youself a copy of the Nook Linear Motion Design Guide.
