    VFD and motor selection

Guys I'm ready to order VFD and motor for my lathe and need some help with motor size and if VFD I have listed is a good unit. The reason for the GS2 is it has a removable front panel that I can mount in my new control panel location.
Also going along with the post I was planning on this BOB board. C11 I also have a C10 here but looks like the C11 is what I need for the VFD and will be enough for future expansion...but not sure.

Here is a post I made in my build thread.

Not sure how HP rating cross reference to what I had. Original motor is single phase 3/4 hp and seemed to have plenty of power.
But I just found a Baldor 1 1/2hp cast iron inverter motor (1800 rpm) used for $60 (local pickup)
I know that's a great price although I would need to jump up one model on the drive to a 2 hp unit making price very similar. Any thoughts?

While on the subject I was planning on a 1 to 1 ratio (1800 rpm). Will I have enough control on speed with the VFD to lower RPM's or should I go 2 to 1 (spindle 3600 rpm) or go with a 3600 rpm motor?
Original spindle does have triple pulley so I could just use it for now but it has an incredible amount of runout.
I guess my main question is how well does a VFD control speed?
Can the model listed be controlled with Mach3 with the proper BOB?

    OK then.
I found some old posts that answered some of my questions.

I ordered the 2 listed if it's to small I will use it on my mill.

Here is a link to run it in the Modbus mode.

    Thanks Al
I bookmarked it for reference. Can't believe I didn't find that last night when I was searching. Looks pretty involved but will definitely give me a starting point.

    Hey Al
I was wondering if the cnc4pc C23 bob will run my VFD without the Modbus adapter.
    Here's wiring diagrams.

AFAIK the CNC4pc will simulate the pot function fine so it should work OK on practically all VFD's.
