Exclamation building a CNC 3 axis Lathe

    Hi,

I am in the process of building a CNC 3 axis lathe and have it almost comlplete, I will be posting a picture on my website soon and videos of the machine running along with my milling machine soon. what is a cnc

I was wondering what i should do for a chuck, the motor I am using to turn the material has a strait shaft with a threaded hole on the end. It is out of a blower someone threw a rock in, I salvaged the motor for this project and now I am at the stage where I need a chuck.

Any tips or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

what is the arrangement of your 3 axes?

Most lathes have a separate spindle machined to accept a common chuck mounting and mounted in high precision bearings. The motor is connected to this spindle through a gear train or most simply a belt and pullies.
