never ran a cincinati what kind of control? I usually set 1 tool as a z-zero base in a work offset page and then set all other z offsets in the geomerty page. as for x always have set offset in geomerty page. I base this on a fanuc control.....also use the same for okuma and haas. Don't know if this is any help but thought I'd give it a shot post more info... and I am sure someone can help this is a great site and have been saved many times .

Cincinnati Lathe

Control is probably 850sx. Which model and size machine? Avenger 200MT, etc.

Ask for the Operating Manual and the Programming Manual numbers. Purchase from Cincinnati, eBay, Machinerymanuals.com, etc. Plan to spend some time with the manuals. For "Initialization" of the machine, refer to pages 3.6-2 4.2-2 of the manual
If there is a shop in your town that has an operator with Cincinnati experience, that person will probably be most helpful to you. Best of luck to you - Code

assuming your machine is up and running then lets make to1 your zero tool with 01 offset or t0101 and offset 01 should be near zero zero in x & Z. all other tool points will have a number assigned that will equal the differance from your tool 01 ! so, the machine i ran had a differance from o.d. tool to i.d. tool of "6 so calling an id tool would have an x offset of -6.00 and a z of the differance from tool point to tool point. this is a rather basic explanation but remember the machine moves the new tool to the location of where previous tool is, in a vector without knowing if anything is in the way, so be aware of loud noises !

I run a cin turn lathe/mill with a 950sx control. it is a pretty easy machine to lean to run. I never had ran a cin lathe with a 950 or 850 control until then. To set the offsets it uses t1 to call up the offset and the tool. on our machine we have a tool probe which is kicking. The trick to set the tools ( on my machine we probe the tools and the use the work shift to set z zero. if you have any question feel free to ask
