Lost in leadscrew page at Mcmaster Carr.

I am trying to get a ball screw setup for the Z axis of my harbor freight micro mill.
The stock system here has almost a half turn of backlash so i thought a ball screw might smooth stuff out a bit.
Do i need an end mounting block? Based on what i think it is, i dont believe I do. And about that ballnut, i know I need that but do i want a square or round?

So, yes you'll need some way to support the end of the ballscrew. I would go with the square ballnut...

Well i know i need to support the screw, but does that mean i need an end mounting block? This is going to be a 12" screw.

    Mounting block

If you don't have a "mounting block", how are you planning to hold the ballscrew in place?

Ooh, i see. I thought that this thing was ment to support the screw at the other end.
So the "end mounting block" is what physically mounts the screw to the mill
